Poisoner sought after series of dog deaths in Blackburn (From This Is Lancashire)

Some sick people around but what does it take to get dog owners to clean up the mess. I know this is not the way to go about it but some owners will never learn. Just a handful of bad owners are the cause of this.

I wish the people motivated to kill these dogs would man up and pull the owners up instead.

It isn't the fault of the dogs and it's possible to end up harming the dog of an owner who *does* pick up after their pet.

The sad thing about this case is that I bet its the dogs of owners who do clean up after them are the ones that died. Not a good way to go about dealing with the issue at all.

The worst 'sad' thing is when people posting on these comments pages are just the same person with potentially dozens of usernames. Telegraph when ate you going to sort this out or do you 'encourage' or by letting it carry on?

Even worse, considering the jobs and positions some of them hold in society. Allowing them access to information under the data protection act and the criminal use thereof.

Like I said, if you are happy with this Telegraph then you only encourage it by inaction.

if this sicko killer is so concerned why not stand on the canal towpath with a camera and photograph the offending OWNERS?

it's not the dogs fault but it's them that this 'person' is torturing and killing.

As for the offending dog owners it only costs a quid for a 100 or so nappy sacks to clean up , if thats too much to spend to be responsible then should you really have a dog?

Be some old git who don't like dogs , if I saw anyone putting poison down I'd boot them in the canel

I fail to see how a dog could eat anything while being walked if they were on a LEAD as is proscribed by Law. Whilst the action of the poisoner is reprehensible, the dog owners have a duty of care as well.

Whilst not condoning any action leading to the death of even one dog aren't the irresponsible dog owners "administering poison" by allowing their dogs to foul the towpath and pavements? Dog faeces are responsible for a disease causing blindness and other nasty ailments. There has to be a change in the attitude of some dog owners. What if it was their child affected by these faeces.

I dont condone these actions either but many people are sick of ignorant and selfish dog owners who pretend they cant see their dog sh*ttng all over the place or carry bags with no intention of using them or use them and throw the bags anywhere after.
Also of aggressive dog owners of aggressive dogs who just wish to intimidate or worse.
The law does not protect adequately, people just dont care.
if any good comes from this it may make owners take more care in future.

This is 1 saddo who needs catching and quick!! Who next bike riders, kids, walkers?? U's knocking dog owners (which i am 1 but dont use the canal) would be up in arms if it was someone you knew??! Anybody sad enough + have all this time on their hands to summat so deranged needs locking away quickly!! We walk our whippet dog from the bridge at Feniscowles all the way to the old sun paper mill and then up through the cricket club area. There are no dog waste bins at all on that whole stretch but we still act as responsible dog owners and pick up and bag the waste and then have to carry it with us for the whole walk! Please get more dog bins along the canal walk. I'm positive people would use them. It is one of our favourite walks but we are worried about this.

I used to RESPONSIBLY walk my dog on the canal at Feniscowles and always picked up and disposed of dog mess. Not anymore because of someone's dispicable actions. I hope the person who has done this is proud of him/herself? It this is about dog mess, irresponsible owners should be held to account and not resort to the killing of defenceless animals.....

If the people who do this think the towpath is bad, they should come and look at the area of Darwen where I live. Every morning, there are several huge mounds, and, I mean mounds, of the stuff on the pavements. Perhaps the answer might be to poison the owners instead.

I know of a place we called dogsh*t alley as a child. I was pleased to see the effort that had been put in to cleaning the place up! dog litter bins galore.
Careful owners were picking their dogs mess up in the bags - and then flinging it into the bush - the local kids now call this the dogsh*t tree

You fail to see presumably because you don't have a dog. I walk my dog exclusively on a lead, and a sniff of the ground very quickly can turn into your dog eating something - more often than not takeaway food thrown onto the ground by careless people who have little regard for their environment. I try and remove whatever she's eaten, but sometimes that can be quite tricky. I probably have more reason than most to hate dog muck as I spend hours each day walking my dog through areas where there are piles just left, waiting to be stood on. I always carry bags, always keep an eye on my dog, and always pick up. However, using this as an excuse to poison dogs is inexcusable - people should report dog fouling to the relevant authorities, not take the law into their own hands This person is a heartless sinister vigilante and whose actions shouldn't be applauded.

Why don't the people who use the area get together Sunday armed with gloves & bags and have a mass clean up campaign . Come on folks have a little pride and clean it up:-).

I hope the sick excuse for a human being who has done this cowardly despicable act dies a slow and painful death, in fact I put a curse on them to do so. I don't say this lightly; I'm sat here at 5.00 am in the morning after expensive visits to the Vet nursing a very sick dog who is suffering from a suspected poisoning. The cost isn't a problem, the little girl, God willing will make it, It's the fact that someone can plan and go out, and do such a premeditated act of cruelty. Trust me people, they're very mentally sick and they walk among us!

Let's just hope that the police find the mentally-challenged old git before some of the dead pet owners do.

When they catch this moron they should feed him/her rat poison. 90 per cent of the dog walkers at witton park clean up after their animals, this is sick and angers me as i am sure it angers most people. Id love to catch you at it and see how clever you are then.

It is not the 90% the poisoner is after! Perhaps his child has been blinded by dog faeces and he is after revenge. Agreed it is the wrong way to go about it but dog owners must take responsibility for their dogs. It is not the dogs fault.
