Ten dogs rescued from Clitheroe house fire

FIREFIGHTERS rescued 10 dogs from a blaze at a house in Clitheroe.

Crews were called to the incident at Well Terrace at around 3.55pm on Friday.

An elderly woman had managed to escape the fire unharmed, but the animals were left behind and at risk from the spreading house blaze. They were rescued unharmed.

Retained station manager at Clitheroe, Lee Curwen, said two engines from his station and one from Great Harwood spent three hours at the scene.

He said: “The cause of the fire is still unknown and under investigation at the moment.

“There is a little bit of damage to the hallway where the fire started.

“The dogs are all OK and the woman did not require hospital treatment.”
