Lotto card win will change Burnley mum's life

Katie Bryant celebrates her win Katie Bryant celebrates her win

A YOUNG mum who a week ago didn’t have enough money to pay for her shopping has scooped £250,000 on a scratchcard bought from the same store.

Katie Bryant, 21, from Burnley, won the jackpot on the National Lottery Blue Scratchcard and is now looking forward to buying her own home, something she thought she would never be able to afford.

Full-time mum Katie had been shopping in Asda in Canning Street, Burnley, with her mother, Louise Bryant, when she bought two scratchcards. “I scratched the first one and there was nothing on it, she said. “I was standing next to my car as my mum loaded the shopping into the boot and I scratched the second card.

“I just could not believe what I was seeing.

“I turned to my mum and said ‘Is this right?’.

“We just continued to pack the shopping into the car and then thought we better go back into Asda to check. I asked the shop assistant to check the card and I was expecting her to say there was a mistake.

“I just could not believe it. It seemed like a dream.

“I had walked into Asda needing to watch every penny I spent and I walked out having won a quarter of a million pounds – things like this only ever happen to other people.

Katie, mother of Milly, five and Olliver, two, added that a week earlier when she had reached the check out in Asda she had spent £10 more than she had expected and had to go and put several items back on the shelf.

“It is just a wonderful feeling to think I do not have to worry any more. This is what means the most to me. I can pay off my debts and not have the worry of owing anyone anything,” Katie said.

In addition to buying a house with a garden, Katie is planning to learn how to drive and buy a car.

“I never thought I would own my own house. This win will change my life.”

Not bitter twisted just making a point. £3 that could of gone towards next week shopping! Not that it matters now as she took the risk and it paid off! I'd of spent it by now. Nice house and car plus family all gone!

Fair play to her for risking a few quid and gaining a life changing amount of money but it shows the climate we live in.
People are struggling to buy food and pay their bills, jobs are are hard to come by and no signs of real improvement.
I just hope this young lady spends the money wisely and other people don't turn to gambling just to try and realize a dream because that in itself can create major issues.

All you jealous people leave the girl alone and be happy for her, she can spend a £1.00 on whatever she likes, dont tell me any of you have never spent any money on any sort of gambling at anytime, or maybe drink or cigarettes, keep your opinions to yourselves, very green eyed monsters.

I go to work for my drinking and gambling money. Bit of a difference.

Do you know the girls circumstances, no, do you know wether she has worked in the past, no, well dont judge people, do you know if you will ever come out of work, no. so dont complain about someone elses happiness, so if you come out of work people will give up smoking drinking or gambling will they NO DIDNT THINK SO. However each individual chooses to spend their money is their business.

Advice:

Kate bit yourself a nice house and get a coal fire and use all the begging letters to keep warm at winter.
Best of luck, ignore all the jealous gits.

Be wary of 'friends' who suddenly appear, asking for a loan.
