These are pretty rich people if they can afford to have four children, as most working folk are not able to do so without recourse to benefits. Let's hope that their supervision of children is better than their supervision of chip pans which are a notorious fire hazard.

Completely inappropriate comment Citizen Kane. I am unclear as to why the financial situation of the family is important. And who are people to judge how many children any family has. Thankfully there were no fatalities.

By definition there appeared to be negligence over the cause of this fire.

If a family is self-supporting financially then they can have 500 children. If the taxpayer is funding it then it is very relevant and appropriate, indeed the issue has been discussed in parliament. Or are you saying that taxpayers should empty their wallets to an endless degree and not question the use to which their contribution is put?

I believe that taxpayers have every right to be aware of how their taxes are being applied, especially in the dire straits that the country finds itself. If we have a family here that is bingeing on benefits and then calling upon the emergency services as a result of seeming negligence then that is a very pertinent cause for concern. Should people not be responsible for their actions or lack of safety awareness? What about the potential impact on neighbours, should they not be considered?

From an environmental perspective, one of the biggest world issues is overpopulation and overpopulation is caused by regenerating much beyond two children.

Who knows, perhaps they are lottery winners and are self-funding? In which case a donation in gratitude to the emergency services or a relevant charity would be in order.

What on earth do benefits have to do with this story? Where does it even disclose that the parents are on benefits? You would want the services such as the Fire Brigade to NOT attend these emergencies if the family were benefit claimants?

Am glad to hear that you sympathise with the family who were probably terrified.
It clearly is an accident, but even if it wasn't you are in no position to comment regarding the families status given you know nothing about them.
Hopefully you never have or never will experience something as terrifying as a fire, but I suspect you have strict supervision strategies in place.
