Darwen church leaders: Thanks for wonderful services’

BOSSES at a village church thanked everyone who attended special Christmas Eve services.

St Stephen’s Church in Tockholes hosted its annual Christingle and Crib Services, which were deemed a huge success.

A spokesman said: “Our grateful thanks go to Jack Watkins, Lucy Nolan, Alex Buckley and George Blackwell for their music and singing. They make a wonderful contribution to the service.

“The collection goes to the Children’s Society and is used to help some of the hundreds of children under 16 who are living on the streets. Thank you to all who attended.”

Good for Tockholes.

Other churches also had good attendances over the Christmas period.

What a pity that this is not replicated during the rest of the year. There are churches that are desparate for people to attend but Sunday Trading and Sunday League football are a great problem. If churches have to close then folk will say "but where can our kids be baptised or we want a wedding in church or a funeral for a loved one."........it is in the hands of people to support our local churches so get some bums on seats!!
