Clitheroe department store receives order from Samantha Cameron

WORKERS at a Clitheroe department store sprang into action when they received an order from a very special customer.
The prime minister’s wife Samantha Cameron purchased 10 white wine glasses from Dawson’s online site www.ecookshop.co.uk, which specialises in branded cookware.
The Dartington Crystal Essentials order was flagged up to staff at the King Street store because of the famous delivery address - 10 Downing Street, London.
Online manager Simon Dawson said the items were on sale with a 50 per cent discount when the 41-year-old business executive made the purchase.
He said: “Mrs Cameron bought five sets of the glasses, which come in twos.
“We did a promotion on the glasses at the time.
“She probably would have used them for gifts.
“The thing that you notice most is the address. It actually went to 10 Downing Street and was flagged up on our system.
“The order was dealt with by somebody who normally specialises in more expensive items, so Mrs Cameron was given a bit of special treatment.
“We do get a few famous people buying things, like footballers buying BBQs, and the majority of our demand comes from down south.”
Dawson’s employs 40 staff in its warehouse specifically for packaging online orders.
The online section, which includes Barbecue World, Garden Furniture World, Junt Linen, Just Pottery and Christmas at Dawson’s as well as the cookshop site, was set up around eight years ago.
Mr Dawson said online sales now accounted for more than 80 per cent of the shop’s total sales.

This country needs more private enterprise. Dawsons are a great example of family run business making some headway against the multi-nationals.
...
And all you lot can do is sit back on your fat backsides and criticize and point fingers. Any of you lot ever run your own company? No I didn't think so.

A great family run business providing employment for a lot of years for the families of people in the town.
In a time of austerity this business is swimming against the tide .
Well done.

would have maybe been better to simply say they were pleased to include members of the family at number ten among their customers, rather than disclose what was bought and how much it was.

Big deal, but poor customer service telling all, I wouldn't use them again.

I also see nothing wrong with finding discounts or shopping cheaply, in fact bravo to her, it is just a little awkward when the recipients find out. Nice try on belittling me though lol.
