Woman dies after road smash

A WOMAN has died after a road crash in Harwood.

Shortly after 4.50pm today - Tuesday December 11 - police were called to Longsight in Harwood following reports of a collision.

Officers attended the scene.

A minibus had been in collision with a pedestrian, a woman aged 75.

She was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead a short time later.

Traffic is being diverted as road closures are in place on Longsight.

Witnesses to the collision should call police on 0161 856 4741.

It is causing delays for rush hour motorists as the road has been closed between the junction of Lea Gate and Bradshaw Road, and the Seven Stars pub. Traffic is being diverted along Longsite Lane.

A police spokesman said the road could be closed for some time while an investigation is carried out.

There are not enough safe places to cross at that junction a nd you have to chance the lights just to get to the crossing.

these puffin crossings: half are broken, most have only one control panel so can't be seen until you're almost on the road. Pedestrian crossings are indescribably stupidly set out in bolton on the whole, half these stupidly set-out crossings also have faults AND a good percentage of these faulty, badly set out lights have crossing times that are too short.

I lived in that area 40 odd years ago,it always was a dangerous road to cross.My condolences to the family.
