Police name man found dead in Burnley house

A MAN found dead at a house in Burnley has been named as police continue to quiz two suspects on suspicion of murder.
A major investigation was launched after the body of Brendan Lally, 51, of Springfield Bank, was found at the foot of a stairway at another house in Reed Street on Hallowe'en.
At 11.20pm officers attended the address following a report of an unconscious man at the terraced house.
On arrival officers found the man at the bottom of the stairs and despite the efforts of officers and paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives said they were treating his death as ‘unexplained’ A post-mortem examination carried out on Thursday revealed Mr Lally died from head and neck injuries.
Five people, two women, aged 20 and 49, and three men, aged 42, 45 and 48, all from Burnley, were arrested on Wednesday night.
The 20-year-old woman and men aged 45 and 48 have now been released without charge.
Last night a woman, aged 49, and a man, aged 42, both from Burnley, were in police custody being questioned.
Detective Supt Ian Critchley, who is leading the investigation, said: “I would urge anyone with information or who saw anything suspicious to contact us.
“Both detectives and neighbourhood policing officers are in the area and if anyone has information or concerns then I would urge them to speak to one of those officers.”
