Friends and family of missing Blackburn man launch search parties

Family and friends join the hunt for David Young
THE family and friends of a missing Blackburn man are refusing to give up hope by launching their own search parties.
Detectives have been carrying out high profile searches for 28-year-old David Young since he went missing two weeks ago.
Specially-trained police divers have even scoured 200 metres of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, near the Albion Street canal bridge in Blackburn after his mobile phone was found by a passerby.
But as hope seems to be fading, hundreds of family and friends of the father of six-year-old twin boys, have been out combing the town for clues.
David, Known as ‘Youngy’ to his friends, was last seen alive on October 17 after visiting the Co-op on Livesey Branch Road at around 10.30pm.
He has not used his bank cards since he has been missing, police said.
Detectives said they are ‘keeping an open mind’ about what had happened to the popular dad, but confirmed divers had been searching for a body.
The family of the former Our Lady and St John Catholic Arts College pupil are treating ‘no news as good news’.
David’s mum Jacqueline Marsden, 52, said: “We are doing our best to remain positive.”
Close friend Becky Watson, 17, from Blackburn said: “I saw David just two days before he went missing. This is just so unlike him. We are going to search everywhere and anywhere tonight until we find him.”
Close friend John Tofts, 20, from Blackburn added: “The fact David’s phone was found is really worrying. I just want to do my bit to find him as he is a really good mate. He is never without a smile.”
A Facebook group with more than 4,200 followers has also been set up to try and find David.
Mr Young is described as white, 5ft 9ins tall with short dark hair. He was wearing a white T-shirt with a blue and black stripey jumper and Adidas tracksuit bottoms when he was last seen.
