Family treated for smoke inhalation after Blackburn house blaze

A FAMILY has been treated for smoke inhalation after an electrical fire at their home in Abraham Street, Blackburn, this morning.

A smoke detector woke the house owner, her two daughters aged 22 and 27, and her three-year-old grandaughter at 7.10am, and they managed to leave the house themselves.

Firefighters spent an hour tackling the blaze in the living room, and making sure the house was safe.

Crew Manager Steve Horrocks said: “We’re guessing that that the fire has started because of an over heated or short-circuited baby monitor or mobile phone charger.

“There is quite severe damage to the living room, but luckily the door was shut, so that has negated the effect on the rest of the house.”

The voice of doom, gloom & drivel has yet again spoken & as usual its utter rubbish. Any charger, regardless of manufacturer can overheat, just as a tv left on standby can do the same.

A totally uncalled for & insensitive remark given what they've been through this morning!

It just goes to show the importance of smoke detectors. Why would anyone not have one?

Amazing how these tiny devices save lives.
I dread to think if they didn't have a fire alarm how much more progressed the fire would have been by the time they realised.
Glad all concerned are safe.

Russia,China and India might not match USA in technology but Russia,China and India have very powerful military mights with Nuclear missiles,Space Rockets technology,ICBMS .Russia ,China and India are very dangerous countries not to be messed with.Their growing economies vast military mights,ICBMS, and Space Rockets would stand up against USA.Small European nations just rely on USA for protection.Russia,Ch

I hope your not a member of the fire brigade, because you're a disgrace to your profession if you are.
You are tring to say that that fakes are just as safe as real chargers. That is dangerous advice perhaps you should resign from the brigade that's if you are init.
Then again you prob sign your name every fortnight instead.

...how am I 'tring to say' that fakes are just as safe by having said 'any charger, regardless of manufacturer can overheat'??

You really do come up with the most bizarre & inane drivel.

@ 2 for 5p

...You didn't ask me if I was in the fire brigade...you said you hoped I wasn't. That's not a question & the reason you didn't receive a reply.

However, to placate your troubled mind, no I am not a member of the fire brigade & neither do I sign on.
