Man left with serious facial injuries after 'large-scale street brawl' in Accrington

A ‘LARGE-scale’ street brawl where metal bars were brandished left a man with serious facial injuries.
Police said the incident started with two men fighting in Dowry Street at 5.30pm on Wednesday before man others joined in.
A 24-year-old man was attacked with a metal bar and sustained fractures to his face and wrist along with bruising to the body.
An investigation is underway into the circumstances of what has happened but police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Detective Sergeant Julie Cross said: “This incident has happened at rush hour on the roadside of a residential street so I would appeal to anybody that witnessed it or with any information that could assist with our investigation to come forward.”
The men involved in the fight are all understood to be white. Two men aged 28 and 31 from Accrington have been arrested in connection with the offence and are currently on police bail pending further inquiries.
