Gun and sex crimes should be top priority say the young

SEXUAL offences and gun crimes should top the police priority list, according to Greater Manchester's young people.

The topics attracted the most votes when youngsters from across the area were asked to prioritise police work at consultation events called "You Choose".

More than 450 young adults went along to the Greater Manchester Police Authority sessions staged at Old Trafford and Bolton Arena in early December. These included students from St Gabriel's RC High School in Bury and the town's Holy Cross College.

Mrs Christine McGawley, chairman of the authority's citizen focus and communications committee, said: "I'm really pleased so many took part in You Choose.

"Younger generations are an important part of all Greater Manchester communities. It's important they have a voice. The events were aimed at doing just that and I'd like thank everyone who attended for getting involved."

Knife and gang crime were other issues in the top six along with drug-related crime and quicker response times. At the bottom end of the scale were driving offences and car crime. Robbery, house burglary and anti-social behaviour ranked in the middle of a list of 15 choices.

Don't know how to eliminate your sex and gun crimes but I do known how to get rid of
almost all of your so-called "drug-related"
crime. Re-legalise all of your now illegal drugs so they can be sold in regulated and licensed
businesses for pennies per dose.
