A MAN from Blackburn is wanted in connection with a "nasty assault" at a Derbyshire railway station.

Two men from Greater Manchester have already been arrested in connection with the incident, at Edwards Bar at Hadfield Station in September.

The victim, a 22-year-old man from Broadbottom, Greater Manchester, had four teeth knocked out in the incident, at 1.30am on Sunday September 30.

He had been at the station with his girlfriend and her parents, and was allegedly kicked in the head by a group of men.

British Transport Police said they were looking for a black male, believed to be from the Blackburn area.

He is approximately 6ft 1in tall and is possibly known as "Ammer".

Police believe he may have previously worked for St Helens Glass.

Sergeant Stuart Mellish, of the British Transport Police, said: "This was a particularly nasty assault which left the victim with serious injuries.

"I am appealing for anyone who might know who this man is to come forward and tell us any information they can."

Police do not believe the man returned to Blackburn on the night of the alleged assault - he was on a night out in a pub, which is at the railway station.

To return to Blackburn, he would have changed at Manchester Piccadilly, with further changes at either Salford Crescent or Bolton.

The two men already arrested, a 24-year-old from Wythenshawe and a 40-year-old from Hyde, have been released on police bail until January 17.
