MOTORISTS at filling stations in Greater Manchester may have their vehicles tested for illegal fuel next week as Revenue and Customs officers crack down on the unlawful use of cheaper red diesel.
Revenue and Customs are stepping up their action following a recent operation when officers found one in five of vehicles tested positive for red diesel, which sells for about 65p a litre less than regular diesel because it is subsidised for use by farm vehicles.
