MP Since - 2010 Majority - 1,659 Born - 1971 (Angelsey), Single.
Education - Ysgol David Hughes, Menai Bridge, Angelsey.
Previous Occupation - Charitable worker - fundraiser for British Heart Foundation, Hope House Children's Hospice, East Lancashire Hospice, Martin House Hospice.
Personal Overview - Charity fundraiser who has been living in West Yorkshire for many years. Performed well locally to win the seat from Labour given its recent electoral performance. He will need to be sensitive over local concerns if he is to retain his Commons membership in the future. Together with his charity employment his lack of University education makes him unusual amongst the current crop of new intake MPs, especially so amongst his fellow Conservatives. Became a PPS in July 2012 despite having rebelled by supporting a backbench motion on holding a referendum on House of Lords reform, his predecessor Angie Bray having resigned after voting against the Government on Lords reform. His appointment was seen as an attempt by the Conservative leadership to 'reach out' to party rebels.
Political History - Councillor, Leeds City Council (2003-) (Aireborough Ward and Guiseley & Rawdon Ward), Parliamentary Candidate for Wrexham (1997), Member for Pudsey (2010-). Member of the Welsh Affairs Select Committee (2010-12). PPS to Rt Hon Francis Maude as Minister for the Cabinet Office (2012-).
Characteristics - Lives in Rawdon. Dog lover - often walks his dog on Rawdon Billing. Keeps fit through gym membership.
