Gymnastics: Fromeside success at Wiltshire Open

FROMESIDE won five medals and 34 rosettes in the recent Wiltshire Open.

The competition held in Melksham was well attended with 300 competitors from clubs across England and Wales. The 22 Fromeside gymnasts competed over four ability levels, in ten different age groups.

At Level five, seven-year-old Ruby Curthoys competed in the in-age (2004 born) and had a great round, finishing overall on the podium after receiving a silver medal.

She was awarded rosettes for finishing second on beam, third on bars and fourth on vault. In the age nine category, Ella Stowell finished tenth overall and Gabby Ainger was 18th, receiving a rosette for her sixth on vault. In the age 10 group, Megan Matthews showed some lovely routines to finish in third place, taking bronze overall and rosettes for first on floor, fourth on beam and sixth on vault.

Training buddies Leah Garland and Ella Waring finished 19th and 24th respectively.

In the seniors group, 12-year-olds Holly Curthoys and Sarah Godden finished eighth and tenth respectively.

Jessica Summerell, 14, was awarded rosettes for coming fourth on vault, sixth on bars and finishing 11th overall.

Oriel Powell received the gold medal overall for her cracking competition, achieving rosettes for finishing first on bars, first on beam, fifth on vault and sixth on floor in the level four in-age (2003 born) round. Ashonte Bird received a rosette for her first on vault, finishing 11th overall. Brogan Sheppard and Gabrielle Wild finished 13th and 15th respectively. In the out-of-age level 4 junior, ten-year-old Laura Westcott received rosettes for fourth on floor, fifth on vault and finishing eighth overall. In the level four senior, 12-year-old Amy Palmer showed great routines to finish on the podium, taking bronze overall and rosettes for first on bars and fourth on floor.

Training pal Saoirse Maccana finished eighth overall and received rosettes for being third on floor and sixth on bars.

In the level three junior, ten-year-old Jaime Wall completed good routines to win bronze overall and rosettes for first on bars, and fifth on vault.

Georgina Bisp, 12, finished in sixth place gaining her a rosette.

She was also awarded rosettes for finishing first on vault and fourth on floor.

Sophie Bryant, 10, finished eighth overall and took a rosette for her sixth on beam.

In level 3 senior, 14-year-old Lauren Elliott received a rosette for finishing fifth overall and also rosettes for coming third on bars, and sixth on beam. Laoishe Maccana, 15, was awarded a rosette for first on bars and finished seventh overall.

In the level 2 senior, 13-year-old Lydia Hayden was awarded a rosette for finishing fourth overall. She also gained rosettes for finishing first on bars, first on floor, and fourth on vault.
