EAST Lancashire actress Jane Horrocks is to revive her most famous role when the iconic sitcom Absolutely Fabulous returns to screen at Christmas.

Jane, 47, from Rawtenstall, played Bubble in the award-winning series, affectionately known as Ab Fab, which aired on the BBC from 1992 to 2003.

The series launched her on the road to stardom which led to starring roles in films as well as numerous television appearances and voiceovers for children’s TV shows.

The series followed the lives of two best friends, Edina and Patsy.

Jennifer Saunders, who plays the role of Edina, wrote the three new episodes, which are based in the present day, while she was recovering from breast cancer.

In the first episode, fans will rejoin the beloved ensemble in the midst of a life-changing experience for one — which affects them all.

In the second show, Eddy sets her sights on changing the career of a very big fish indeed.

And in the concluding episode, Eddy and Patsy play their own very special part in the London 2012 Olympics.

Jon Plowman, an executive producer at the BBC and original producer of Ab Fab, said: “Viewers have been fantastically loyal in their devotion to our show, so we're really thrilled to say that it's coming back for three new shows to celebrate our 20th anniversary.”
