THESE budding stars of the airwaves have been busy working on a play to be aired on a new community radio station.

Members of the drama group at Blackburn's Roman Road Community Centre will perform on Legion Radio in the new year. Listeners will be able to tune in to the station via the internet on www.communitymusicproject.co.uk from February.

The project is a culmination of a busy 18 months for the group, which has been working closely with Blackburn-based arts group Action Factory in a project funded by Theatre in Communities, Arts Council England North West.

The young people, aged eight to 12 years old, have been learning drama skills from drama worker Kate Lambert.

And from small beginnings, in March 2004, the group has tripled in number with up to 20 young people from Highercroft attending each week.

The aim of the group was to encourage young people to be inspired by arts and drama and use it as a tool for learning and personal development.
