The Fleet Air Arm, of which RNAS Culdrose is a base, is to lose around 80 personnel as part of the latest redundancies in the armed forces.
It had already been announced that the Royal Navy was to lose a total of 5,000 personnel by 2015, in the second stage of the Armed Forces Redundancy Programme.
A Culdrose spokesman said it was not know how many, if any, people would be affected at Culdrose and would not know “for some time.”
The Fleet Air Arm, the branch of the navy responsible for the operation of naval aircraft, has bases at Culdrose and Yeovilton, with a small base at Prestwick in Scotland.
Personnel are also based onboard ships that carry aircraft.
