Pendle's Cheeky Monkeys split up

STAR ACT: Charlie Dixon and Krista Hyatt, performing as the Cheeky Monkeys STAR ACT: Charlie Dixon and Krista Hyatt, performing as the Cheeky Monkeys

BRITAIN'S Got Talent stars The Cheeky Monkeys have split, according to their mums.

Dancing duo Charlie Dixon, from Nelson, and Krista Hyatt, from Colne, shot to fame on Britain's Got Talent two years ago after impressing judge Simon Cowell.

The cute pair, dressed in co-ordinated pink and white outfits, reached the semi-finals and received massive support from people across the country.

Charlie, 11, who attended Laneshawbridge County Primary School, has since landed a scholarship at the Hammond School in Cheshire and is bidding to become a star of the stage.

And Krista, who still enjoys dancing, is now at secondary school.

Charlie's mum Carolyne, of Trawden, said: “Charlie doesn't perform as Cheeky Monkeys now.

"He got offered a scholarship at the Hammond and that is keeping him really busy.

“He comes home every three weeks and he is learning dancing, singing and acting.

“We had to turn a part down in a new musical by the Royal Shakespeare company, Matilda, in Stafford.

"He would have been travelling all the time and we would hardly have seen him.”

Charlie recently sang solo at Cheshire Cathe-dral's Christmas Carol Concert in front of more than 800 people.

Krista's mum Lisa said: “Krista is still dancing but they don't perform together now.

"She was fearless on the show but she has gone a bit shy now she's at Park High School.”

As the Cheeky Monkeys, Charlie and Krista joined the show's tour of theatres around the country.

They also landed parts in the film Nativity, alongside Martin Freeman, from The Office, comedian Alan Carr and Pam Ferris.

In January 2009 they went to New York to appear on Maury Povich’s World’s Most Talented Kids on NBC.

I think the Wing Commander is talking tongue in cheek. In all honesty I can't see why the LT wasted paper on this un-newsworthy item. Pointless at the time and pointless now. They were twee, not talent.
