GET out your umbrellas and wellingtons because one of the best-loved musicals of all time is currently thrilling audiences in Blackpool.

Singin’ in the Rain features all the style and spectacle of a golden age and has some of the best comedy routines, dance numbers, and songs ever written.

We caught up with its leading man Tim Flavin, who plays Don Lockwood, the part immortalised by Gene Kelly.

ARE YOU ENJOYING BEING AT THE GRAND?

Yes, Blackpool’s a great place to visit as the audiences are so warm and receptive.

ARE YOU ENJOYING SEEING DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE UK?

I actually live in Brighton, but it’s good to see different towns and cities, although I have to confess that I’ve seen most of them before when I’ve toured with other shows such as 42nd Street!

WERE YOU NERVOUS WHEN YOU ACCEPTED GENE KELLY ROLE?!

Excited at the challenge rather than nervous, I think. It’s such a fantastic opportunity that I just wanted to grab it with both hands and dive straight in.

WHY DO YOU THINK SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN IS ONE OF THE BEST-LOVED MUSICALS OF ALL TIME?

It never fails to raise a smile. It cheers people up. It’s full of fantastic tunes and great dance routines. What more can anyone ask of a musical?

TELL US A BIT HOW YOU GOT INTO THE INDUSTRY?

I’ve always loved musical theatre. I trained hard and worked my way up. It was the only way to do it when I started out. I’ve done more shows than you can imagine.

WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE NUMBER FROM THE SHOW?

It’s impossible to choose. Everyone expects you to say the title song, but there are so many fantastic songs such as ‘Good Morning’, ‘Make ‘Em Laugh’ and ‘Moses Supposes’ and I love them all for different reasons.

HOW DO YOU SPEND YOUR TIME WHEN YOU'RE NOT PERFORMING?

Relaxing with my family.
