Diana Vickers wins London theatre award

DIANA Vickers was crowned London Newcomer of the Year at the WhatsOnStage Theatregoers’ Choice Awards.

Up against the likes of Lenny Henry (Othello) and Nicholas Hoult (New Boy), Diana won the prestigious gong for her lead role in The Rise and Fall of Little Voice at the Vaudeville Theatre.

Diana, 18, was among a list of stars who won awards at the Prince of Wales Theatre in London, including Jude Law and Rowan Atkinson.

Diana, who is from Huncoat, and attended Westholme School, Blackburn, also confirmed her debut album will be called Songs From The Tainted Cherry Tree.

Her first single Once is released on April 19.

This award is a tremendous achievement given the fierce competition that Diana was facing. Having seen her sensational performance in The Rise and Fall of Little Voice, Diana really did deserve to win this accolade. Diana is a very talented young lady - it's no wonder that her UK Tour has already sold out in London and Manchester! I've booked my ticket for King George's Hall already.

Remember all the haters?
I remember them on this site saying that she'll fade into insignificance and try her best to stay in the lime light.

Well, she is definitely in the lime light.

I hate to say I was right but... I was right!
