Tom Wrigglesworth picks up Lancashire Telegraph comedy award

COMEDIAN Tom Wrigglesworth was delighted to receive the Lancashire Telegraph Award for his performance at Blackburn’s comedy festival.

The comedian’s show, An Open Letter to Richard Branson, was judged the best comedy performance at the 2009 Festival in November by a panel of judges who watched every show.

Lancashire Telegraph readers were also asked to vote online for their favourite.

Tom was presented with his award during his show at the Lowry, Salford Quays by Lancashire Telegraph features editor John Anson.

Tom said: “I am genuinely thrilled to get this award. It is so good to know that people appreciate your show.

“The Blackburn Comedy Festival has become a major event and to follow Jimmy Carr and Jason Manford in receiving the annual award is really great.”

Acts already confirmed for this year’s festival which will be held at King George’s Hall include Frankie Boyle, Al Murray, John Bishop, Jason Manford and Jimmy Carr.
