A 16-YEAR-OLD girl is celebrating after securing a £30,000 scholarship to a prestigious theatre school.
Naomi Sherlicker, who dreams of a West End career, is set to take a national diploma in professional music theatre at the Liverpool Theatre School.
She is one of just 24 pupils accepted on the highly-sought after course and had to go through gruelling auditions and performances to win a place.
She said: “I was interested in going to theatre school, but it wasn’t until my singing teacher mentioned about this place that I knew what to do.
"The auditions were really tough, but it was brilliant to get through. I can’t wait to start in September.”
Naomi’s potential has also been spotted by the Government’s Learning and Skills Council as she was selected from hundreds for a £10,000-a-year scholarship to the theatre school, which will run throughout her three year course.
Already she has been honing her stage skills at the Joy Waring School of Dance, in Feniscowles, Blackburn, as well as taking acting and singing lessons.
Naomi, who lives in Brindle, near Chorley, said: “I started dancing when I was three and I’ve been doing competitions all my life.
"Only when I got a bit older did I realise I needed more to succeed, so I started singing and drama lessons.”
