Great British Bake Off judge Paul Hollywood will share the personal story behind his rise to culinary stardom in a new cookery show.

The Merseyside star will take viewers on his baking journey, sharing the tips and expertise he has been picking up from his father and grandfather since childhood.

He will cook up a menu of new treats as he talks about the kitchens, chefs and recipes that changed his life.

The five-part Channel 4 series will be produced by Love Productions, the creators behind Bake Off.

Head of factual entertainment Kelly Webb-Lamb, who commissioned the show, said: “The new series will feature Paul’s irresistible recipes and offer insight into the man from Merseyside whose baps and bloomers have made headlines.

“Love and Paul are already a tasty combination, but we are delighted to be able to give the audience a fresh insight into Paul’s life before Bake Off – and how he became the brilliant judge he is today.”

The programme will add to Paul’s already busy schedule, which will include a return to the Bake Off tent in autumn.

He will be joined by co-judge Prue Leith and presenters Sandi Toksvig and Noel Fielding when the show moves to Channel 4 from BBC One for its eighth series.

Paul is the only member of the much-loved show’s original line-up to stick with the channel move – after Mary Berry, Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc decided to step down.
