Comedy actor Steve Carell appears to be continuing along the dramatic route with his latest film role in Marwencol.

The Anchorman star – who received an Oscar-nomination for his performance in true crime drama Foxcatcher – has signed on to star in Robert Zemeckis’ feature adaptation of Jeff Malmberg’s 2010 documentary of the same name, according to The Wrap.

Marwencol tells the story of Mark Hogancamp, who loses his memory after suffering a vicious assault, and finds comfort in building a miniature village and playing out the lives of the dolls who live in it.

Edward Scissorhands scriptwriter Caroline Thompson has adapted the story into a feature film.

Universal will make the movie after buying the rights to Hogancamp’s life story as well as the critically acclaimed documentary.
