Professor Green has admitted he thought about committing suicide after a tumultuous year which saw him injured in a car accident and arrested for drink-driving.

The Read All About It rapper - whose own dad killed himself - suffered a broken leg when he was crushed between two cars last May, then this year he was banned and fined after admitting drink-driving, although he insisted he got behind the wheel of his Mercedes because he feared his wife Millie Mackintosh was in danger from a robber.

Pro Green, who has previously revealed he goes through bouts of depression, told the Daily Mirror he struggled to cope after hitting rock bottom, confessing: "I was definitely in the situation where the thought of ending it crossed my mind.

"I didn't think about how I'd do it, but there were moments with the anxiety of it all, I wanted to get out of my own skin.

"The feeling of being uncomfortable in your own skin is the worst you can have."

Pro Green, whose real name is Stephen Manderson, went on: "When I was hit by the car I was on morphine and codeine for nearly three months and that made everything really difficult. I was waking up with knots in my stomach."

The Remedy singer said he sought treatment and has now discovered "the tools" he needs to help him cope.

"I tried cognitive behavioural therapy, but it didn't work for me," said the 30-year-old.

"I think therapy and talking is important and cathartic, so I've got a way of getting the feelings out. Sometimes it takes a little while, but now I've got the tools to get myself through it."
