WHEN my son heard the pantomime we were going to was Cinderella he cried ‘that’s for girls’.

But he couldn’t have been more wrong. That’s the beauty of pantomime as it caters for all – young or old, boys or girls – with plenty of traditional fun. And Cinderella at the Oswaldtwistle Civic Theatre does just that.

We all had our favourites. For the adults it was the raucous ugly sisters Britney (Scott Worsfold) and Christina (Adam Borzone), two larger than life characters who owned the stage with their loud and sometimes slightly rude banter. We particularly enjoyed the 12 Days of Christmas which had us in stitches.

For the children it was the lovely Buttons (Eastenders’ Mark Homer) who engaged the audience with his friendly chat and his love for the beautiful Cinderella (Ella Vize).

Coronation Street’s Nick Cochrane was Prince Charming, alongside Fiona Egan as a fantastically scary Lady Morticia Tremayne who elicited lots of excited boos from the audience.

It’s a show with local touches and great musical numbers.
