A BRAND new girl band tipped for pop stardom is aiming to blast all things Lancashire to the top of the charts.
Three girls from across the county were hand-picked to form The Seraphims following a nationwide hunt where more than 500 hopefuls auditioned.
And after only six months together the final trio have recorded their debut single, Blackpool Honeymoon, which they will perform live for the first time at Accrington Town Hall tomorrow.
The Seraphims — whose name means the highest order of angels — are made up of singers Sam Hilton, 24, Amanda Bennett and Roxie Lowe, both 22.
Sam is a part-time actress and works for an internet firm by day; Roxie is a clothes shops assistant; and Amanda works as a butcher.
But the girls hope to leave their day jobs behind and are rehearsing in the evenings and weekends in a studio in Great Harwood to turn their dreams into reality.
Working hard behind the scenes for the band is a team of respected writers, managers, engineers and producers — all from Lancashire.
The Seraphims’ song-writer Tony Hogan, of Great Harwood, has already penned 20 tracks for the girls to record.
Blackpool Honeymoon, released later this month, was written to reflect the seaside resort’s feelgood factor and will be performed to more than 15,000 people at Blackpool FC’s first Premier League home game in August.
Tony added: “It’s all happening so quickly.
“I warned the girls and everyone involved in this that it could take a couple of years to get any attention but it’s been eight weeks and already the girls are being tipped for success.
“Their first record is fabulous.”
The band’s New York manager, Patrick Dubuque, who now lives in Oswaldtwistle, said: “Three is the magic number.
“Harmonies work best with a trio, and these girls have so much potential.
“I see them improve every time we practise.”
At 24, Chorley-born Sam is the oldest band member She said: “I’m like the band’s big sister.
“Roxie is feisty and Amanda, is bubbly and full of ideas.
“We all really gel well together.
And the part-time actress, who has appeared in plays alongside Suranne Jones and Denise Nolan, added: “We’re thrilled to have been given this opportunity and it’s great that girls from Lancashire are in a band that’s getting national attention.
“It’s hard work at the moment, but we know all the hours will pay off.”
And former cheerleader Roxie, also from Chorley, said: “The band’s image is young and fresh and very positive.
“We’re here to lighten up people’s lives!”
Manager Mr Dubuque added: “We see big things for these girls.
“They have their own image and aren’t trying to be anyone from the industry before them.
“We are very excited about the future, and the initial feedback has been beyond our expectations.
“There is a genuine belief that this group can go all the way and really make a global impact.”
The band’s second single, Not Another Monday, is already in the pipeline and an album is planned for before Christmas.
The girls will perform a three-song set for the first time tomorrow at Accrington Town Hall from 5pm.

So, in fact, he is the bands' Oswaldtwistle manager.
