THE Best That I Can Be, a single recorded to raise awareness of anti-social behaviour in Lancashire, is now available to buy and download.

The single was written by Darwen DJ Martin Cooper, of The Bee radio station, and produced by Daniel Reid and is in support of the pressure group Make Lancashire Safer, the brainchild of Blackburn DJ Kirk Bullen.

It features more than 100 artists from across Lancashire and vocal performances by Shameless actors Rebecca Atkinson (Karen McGuire) and Ben Batt (Joe Pritchard).

Recording was done, Band Aid-style, in Darwen Library Theatre and the track is all set to take the UK charts by storm with the backing of local listeners.

Martin said: “I wanted to create something that would stand up against other songs being played on the radio.

"I wanted people to hear it and enjoy it, then want to discover more about it.

"I decided to write a track about self-improvement and what we as individuals can achieve if we strive to be the best we can be.”

Kirk said: “For the single to make the UK Top 40 we need to sell somewhere in the region of 3,000 copies, but the more sales we get the better.”

The project is being backed by Shameless actors Rebecca Atkinson, who plays Karen McGuire, and Ben Batt, who plays Joe Pritchard All proceeds from the sale of the record go to charity.
