From Keith Sowerbutts, Oswald Street, Accrington.

Stuck for something to buy for his mother-in-law's birthday
He pondered the situation.
Well, he'd given her different gifts every year
If he missed there'd be confrontation.

But being a man of foresight
Came up with a novel idea
He'd buy her a large plot in an exclusive cemetery
Knowing she'd need it one year.

It seemed to work, but the following year
He bought her nothing at all.
At which she complained bitterly
You could say, she went straight up the wall.

He kept his cool and reasoned
Showing no sign of fear,
Said you still haven't used the present
The one that I bought you last year.
