Lovers of science fiction - here's your chance to grab a bit of the big screen action.

While football fans may have been crowding around the nation's flat screen and LCD TVs for the past month or so, lovers of the BBC's hit series, Doctor Who, have a chance to see the series finale of their favourite show on a big screen at a special event next weekend.

And that's not all - they will also be in the company of two icons of the series in a special event at Blackpool Pleasure Beach's Paradise Rooms on Saturday, July 8.

Elisabeth Sladen, who made her name as Sarah Jane Smith, companion of the third and fourth doctors (John Pertwee and Tom Baker) in the 1970s.

Most recently she was seen alongside David Tennant (left with Billie Piper as his assistant) in the episode School Reunion, where she was seen with K-9, the legendary robotic dog who also appeared in his own series, K9 and company.

And fans will be even more delighted to learn that K9 will be at Saturday's event, as will Doctor Who actor Eugene Washington and writer, Bob Baker.

Visitors will be able to see the final episode of the current series, Doomsday, on a big screen.

Organisers The Who Shop, a London-based retailer of Doctor Who memorabilia, promise mystery guests, exclusive merchandise stalls, interviews and, most intriguingly of all, a world exclusive announcement'.

Tickets, including a sit-down buffet meal, are priced at £25 and the event begins at 5pm. Contact The Who Shop on 0208 4712356 or visit www.thewhoshop.com for more details.
