Madness starts at the theatre

THEY say that the best actors need to be a little bit crazy, but in Bolton Little Theatre's new production, which opens tonight, the madness continues on stage.

The amateur theatre company are presenting an adaptation of Ken Kesey's classic novel, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest.

The book was famously made into a film, starring Jack Nicholson, in 1975.

Barry Hall, who is directing the Bolton Little Theatre production, said: "It is very easy to make a comparison between the play and the film.

"However, the play stays true to the original Ken Kesey novel, and gives equal exposure to the paranoid schizophrenic Chief Bromden.

"As a company we devoted a lot of time in workshop investing our energies discovering who these people are, and I hope we have done the lives of these disenfranchised people some justice."

The show will star Steph Shipley, John O'Connell, Sam Cooper and Dave Smart.

Having been a patron of Bolton Little Theatre for a number of years I eagerly await this production. I am sure as always it will exceed my expections. "Break a leg" :o)
