OLIVER Parker and Barnaby Thompson share the director’s chair for the sequel to their 2007 comedy, set in one of Britain’s most notorious schools, where the girls wield hockey sticks like weapons and take no prisoners on and off the pitch.

Unconventional headmistress Camilla Fritton (a cross-dressing Rupert Everett) encourages her girls to express themselves as they see fit, while continuing to pursue her old flame, stuffy government minister Geoffrey Thwaites (Colin Firth).

Meanwhile, a women-hating secret society known as AD1 intends to put the girls of St Trinian’s in their place, led by the villainous Pomfrey (David Tennant).

Thankfully, head girl Annabelle (Talulah Riley), who is also Miss Fritton’s niece, and her sisters in uniformed chaos are more than a match for their detractors.
