YOU’VE just got over the disappointment of Christmas and New Year TV. But what is there to look forward to?
Last night Celebrity Big Brother was back — basically a vain attempt to restore some failing careers.
But, to be honest, it’s tired and would probably be best consigned to the ‘of its time’ filing cabinet.
Still at least BBC1 had something for us — DIY SOS Compilations, 10 years of the ‘best’ bits of the show that made Changing Rooms look slick.
I suspect that the viewers’ first reaction was one of surprise — namely that DIY SOS has actually survived for so long.
Then we had Nick Knowles and his wacky team in their co-ordinated polo shirts mucking around, splashing paint and basically finishing off DIY jobs that home owners were too inept to complete.
OK, I exaggerate, there were some truly deserving causes over the years, but they were in a minority.
Hopefully a decade of DIY disasters is enough for anyone and time wil be called on the show. You do get the feeling that the makeover show has been done to death.
Certainly the idea of encouraging budding property tycoons has been scuppered by the current economic climate.
So maybe fewer DIY amd makeover shows on TV is one thing to look forward to.
