IT'S a wonder Corrie and EastEnders are managing to put out any programmes at the moment - all their actors seem intent on ditching their day jobs and pursuing a recording contract through a reality TV show.

As if Just The Two of Us and Big Brother running at the same time wasn't enough we've not got a third "please, please, make me more famous" show thrown into the mix - Soapstar Superstar.

We've all been predicting the end of good quality TV for a few years now, hailing reality TV the devil, but I'm seriously getting worried that soon it'll be a case of switching on the box and having only reality shows to choose from.

If you didn't catch last year's show Soapstar Superstar takes some of the most familiar faces from our favourite soaps - this year it includes Alan Fletcher (Karl Kennedy) from Neighbours, Hayley Tamaddon (Delilah Dingle) from Emmerdale, Coronation Street's Tupele Dorgu (Kelly Crabtree), Mark Furze (Ric Dalby) from Home and Away and Gemma Atkinson (Lisa Hunter) from Hollyoaks - getting the X Factor treatment.

It's ironic that Martin McCutcheon, who started out life as Tiffany in EastEnders, leads the panel of judges presiding over the soapstars wanting to have a singing career.

And to be fair whoever wins wouldn't have that far to go to eclipse Martine's limping musical career.
