YOUR club needs you! That's the impassioned plea by Accrington Stanley supporter Andrew Camm.

The 21-year-old has admitted he was stunned the attendance for the first Football League game in Accrington in over 44 years failed to reach 3,000.

But Camm, one of the founder members of supporters' club the Stanley Ultras, hopes stayaway fans will have a change of heart.

Otherwise, he fears the Reds' Football League future could be in jeopardy.

"Tuesday's attendance was very concerning - 2600 for our first home game back in our rightful place is appalling and a big worry," he said.

"I was expecting a full house, or at least 3,500 - especially after all the hype, television and press coverage we've been getting throughout the summer.

"Over the last few years the people of Accrington and surrounding areas have said how we should support the club to help us get back into the league.

"The club have done the hard bit in getting us there - now it's time for the fans to help the club in return by attending the league games as this is one of the things that will help us sustain our league status.

"Without the fans coming through the turnstiles the town could wave a quick goodbye to the Football League."

Camm added that as well as watching League football, there were plenty of other incentives to get behind the Reds.

"We have the cheapest ticket prices in the league, it's probably one of the most friendliest and most family orientated clubs you could wish to visit, and we have very passionate fans who really get behind their team," he said.

"The chairman, Eric Whalley, has worked wonders for the club, John Coleman and Jimmy Bell make up probably one of the most eager and passionate management teams around and the standard of football from talented players is very entertaining."

The club has come in for criticism for not yet constructing a roof on either the Clayton Terrace or the Coppice Terrace, but Camm hit back: "We have around 1000 seats which are undercover and space for about 500-750 people covered standing so that can't be an issue."

He added: "It is now that we really need the extra people coming in.

"For years people have been saying we need a team to be proud of, well we finally have.

"Give us a chance - we might impress you.

"The town of Accrington needs a football team to be in the League so let's swell the gates for the Barnet game tomorrow and do your bit to help us stay were we belong.

"It's taken 44 years to get back, please don't let it vanish before our eyes!"
