The Blackpool and Fylde Far East Prisoners of War Association has been officially wound up at a special ceremony at the mayor's parlour.
Seven surviving former prisoners of the Japanese during the Second World War, together with wives and some widows of prisoners who have died, were the guests of the mayor and mayoress, Councillor Robert and Gaynor Wynne.
The mayor congratulated the association on their endeavours, not only during the war, but in the following 60 years in providing support and comradeship to each other and to the widows and children of members and those who did not survive the war.
