Drug raids: six more arrests

A further six people have been arrested on suspicion of dealing Class A' drugs as Operation Nimrod strikes continue in Preston.

The arrests are in addition to the 4 people arrested earlier this morning and brings the total of arrests to 19 with 9 people currently charged for drug related offences.

A 17-year-old, an 18 year old and two 28 year olds, all males, were arrested at addresses on Bow Lane, St George's Road, Duke Street and Frome Street.

Two women aged 37 and 20 were also arrested at an address on Stocks Road.

Two 19 year olds, an 18 year old and a 17 year old were arrested from the Avenham area of the city following dawn raids on four addresses this morning.

Operation Nimrod struck Preston on Monday 24 March and this morning (Thursday, March 27) 100 officers from across the County, including Support Unit Officers, Dog Patrols, and CID (Crime Investigation Department) staff took part in the Operation for the second time this week.

Operation Nimrod is an intelligence-led operation that is targeting drug crime across the force and has involved months of evidence gathering on alleged drug dealing in Lancashire. The types of drugs involved are believed to include heroin and crack cocaine.

Ch Supt Pete White, Divisional Commander at Central Division, said: "We are committed to taking Class A drugs off our streets and the message to drug dealers is simple: seek treatment or we could be knocking down your door next."
