We're backing Jodie in TV contest
The mum of Blackpool's latest TV star has declared her pride in her girl's achievement.
Jodie Prenger, 28, of Newton Drive, has made the final 12 in the BBC talent search for the next Nancy in a West End production of Oliver.
She will sing on Saturday night in front of Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber and a professional panel in the first live show of the series.
Jodie's mum, Madeleine, said: "I am so thrilled for her, I manage to speak to her in snatched conversations every now and again, and she says she is enjoying every minute of it.
"They are so busy at the moment that they don't know what they are doing from one day to the next. But it's like all her dreams have come true at once, to work with such brilliant people."
It's not the first time Jodie has had a brush with fame either, having lost eight stone to win the UK Living reality weight loss show The Biggest Loser in 2006.
Madeleine added: "The family will be on the road on Saturday morning, and we will be heading down to London every weekend for the live show, but I urge everybody in Blackpool to get behind Jodie and vote for her."
Her supporters also include dad Marty and brother Marco.
Jodie who works as an agony aunt for a magazine has sung for years in Blackpool clubs and is also a talented dancer.
And one local bookie is certainly getting behind her. Paul Gambrill, of Taylormade betting, who has a shop in Market Square, Lytham, are offering the best odds about on Jodie, at 13/2.
She has already been made joint second favourite for the show, and Mr Gambrill is expecting a flood of local money on her.
He said: "Jodie is one of the favourites to land the role, having already shown she is a winner after losing eight stone and taking first place in another TV reality show.
"Although it's hard to put together odds at this stage of the competition, we are going best price at 13/2 in order to let you get behind our girl.
"In my "well-educated" opinion, Jodie's competition seems to come in the shape of Francesca and Jessie."
Tune in to see Jodie's first live performance on BBC One on Saturday at 6.50pm.
