Cole and Varga in the frame for Clarets
OWEN Coyle hopes to have on-loan Sunderland duo Andrew Cole and Stanislav Varga available for selection for Saturday's home game against Barnsley.
Varga missed last weekend's defeat at Preston with a foot injury but, with central defender Clarke Carlisle beginning the first of a three-match ban, could come back into contention.
Cole came on as a second-half substitute at Deepdale after recovering from a calf problem. The 36-year-old striker has previously been hampered by a recurrence of an old Achilles problem, but Coyle believes it is too early to tell whether these recent niggles will have any bearing on whether Cole calls time on his playing career at the end of this season.
"I think it will have been frustrating for him because he had an absolutely impact in scoring his hat-trick at Queen's Park Rangers and then need an injection," said the Burnley boss.
"I think that's settling down now and hopefully we'll see the best of him in the remaining weeks.
"It's probably too early to pre-empt anything on (his future). We'll sit and have a chat and then take it from there."
