Coyle set for summer spending spree

BURNLEY manager Owen Coyle is plotting a summer spending spree after seeing his side's promotion ambitions falter.

Although the Clarets boss still has sixth place in his sights and is determined to bridge the four-point gap separating them from the final play-off place, Coyle is determined to strengthen once the summer transfer window opens.

The £1.5million from the sale of Andy Gray to Charlton Athletic will be made available in the first instance, and Coyle has warned his current crop that they are all playing for their futures.

"Players who are out of contract have to show us they've got a part to play at the football club. Equally the players that are within contract have to show that they want to be a part of what we want to do, and that will be up to them," said the Burnley boss, who FROM BACK PAGE has entered into negotiations with winger Wade Elliott but has yet to make a decision on the remaining seven players whose current deals expire in the summer.

"I've told them all how we want to go about it and how we're going to approach it and I think they've seen the way we want to play, but they have to make sure they're going to be up to the standards that we're going to require.

"It's a gradual process of one building block at a time but we know what we need and where we need it, and we'll put all that into place.

"If we've to do a bit of wheeling and dealing then we'll do that.

"We brought in £1.5million going on for £2m in January, so there will be funds available to go and strengthen the squad with the players we want and the areas we want to strengthen.

"And if we keep getting that continued support from the fans as well, then it's got the makings of a terrific combination."

Coyle has until 5pm today to add to his squad before the loan window closes.

Crewe Alexandra have renewed their interest in taking Steve Jones back to Gresty Road until the end of the season, but the Burnley boss said: "I've made a few enquiries as to one or two, so it's dependent on anyone coming in as to whether anyone goes out.

"We're not leaving any stone unturned, it's just getting things to come together."

REST ASSURED THAT ANY "SUMMER SPENDING SPREE" WILL BE FINANCED BY THE SALE OF KYLE LAFFERTY. THE CLUB WILL MAKE NO COMMENT JUST IN CASE SEASON TICKET SALES ARE ADVERSELY AFFECTED. WHAT HAPPENED TO ALL THE TALK OF LOAN SIGNINGS TO HELP WIN THE NEXT 6 MATCHES!!! WHO NEEDS A BLIMP WITH ALL THE HOT AIR COMING OUT OF TURF MOOR ON A DAILY BASIS.

More bluster from Coyle. This guy is out of his depth and I think he knows it.

We need Laffers to stay and then pair him with David Healey from Fulham. Come on Mr Flood show us that you mean business, I want something to tempt me into buying a season ticket.

Julie, what about Eastwood from Wolves. Not in the team there and is prolific for Wales.

Well a spending spree in the summer!!! Also maybe a bit od "Wheeling and Dealing" if they have too. So does that mean that the club will offer less than half of the value of a player For example a club values a player at 1.5 mill and we offer 450,000. Do the club not value Lafferty at 3 mill+. So surely if a club came in offering 750,000 they wouldnt even entertain it, so how can they expect to take the clubs offers seriously because the club made some stupid offers in the last transfer window.2million to spend how many decent quality players are the club going to bring in on that!!!!!!!! Well i guess loads if we go for players released by thier clubs in the summer and free signings from the pension brigade.Isnt it worth 30mill plus for a club to go up in the premiership so why didnt the club goes all out to push for that playoff spot.Well i have had my moan but will still be up for the game on saturday as im just hooked on the club but also disheartened. Nice to see the usual cry going up from our 'loyal' fan base. I'm not going anymore, stuff your ticket, i'd rather watch TV with the wife etc etc.
Lets all stop going eh, just like 'fans' did in the eighties. Then when the club are bottom of league 2, having to win the last game to stop going out of the league, lets all go back on. Cry when we survive and tell everyone what loyal fans we are and how much the club means to us. How we never miss a game etc etc.
Ok, we are disappointed at not getting in the playoff but for god's sake get behind the club. Not going on just makes it worse.
If your a fan support the club, if not then go f***** shopping, but for god's sake stop whining.

BFC TROT OUT THE SAME OLD STORYLINE DURING EVERY LOAN AND TRANSFER WINDOW "WE ARE JUST WAITING ON A FEW CALLS". NEEDLESS TO SAY NOTHING EVER HAPPENS BUT FLOOD AND KILBY MUST THINK THAT THERE ARE SOME VERY GULLIBLE AND STUPID FANS WHO FALL HOOK LINE AND SINKER EVERY TIME WAITING FOR NEW SIGNINGS TO ARRIVE.

can't smile wide enough, believe it when i see it.the has beens and frees, out of contracts and garbage must be chuffed knowing that burnley are searching for players.lafferty will go for sure now.i bet we don't spend more than the price we got for gray.one thing is certain we are going to need at least 6 players to survive next seaon, never mind dreaming of promotion.watch what happens when we sign a 35 year old has been the CLUB will be telling us this player will get us promoted, some of the fans will get sucked in again until they see the super star hobble round the pitch at snails pace.its the same every season.it would be great if coyle had about 4million to spend, then he could prove or not his talent as a manager.had a great laugh at wades comment that he signed because the club are ambitious.he must have been **** when he said that, but i am pleased he's signed.i like many others love this club, but we reserve the right to moan when every year we are lied to.pray to god next season is different, but pray hard.utc

Some of the comments on here are just laughable! The "PAYING" customer, in this case the "genuine fans of BFC" have every right to b1tch moan and complain as much as they want! If you went to a restaurant, ordered caviar, paid for caviar, the chef told you it was caviar and was then served TRIPE, would you complain?? Can you see my meaning?? This is not about not supporting BFC anymore, it is about the b0llocks that we are being fed by the board! Remember january? We were told 3/4 more players before coventry game - we got NONE. Remember last week, we were told by Coyle a couple of loans before deadline - we got NOTHING. We, the paying public which may i remind you is £396 if you buy before the end of April - IS A LOT OF MONEY and when you add this to people with families, children on matches, merchandise etc.. this is an awful lot of my disposable income gone and sure as hell i am going to have my say! This year is the first year i have ever, ever walked out with more than half hour to go(against wolves) and even when we have won at home(not that it has happened too often) i have not come away from the Turf happy! So please, please tell me why i should once again fork out all this money on a club that does not give a F.U.C.K about me or my opinions?? It is a game of give and take and i am afraid that unless i see the club actually giving back something this year, my season ticket renewal slip will still be here come August! This does not mean i would no longer be a claret nor does it mean i am not a fan as BFC is in my blood but it does go to show that as i am not the only one who is seriously disgruntled maybe, just maybe the board will sit up and actually take notice when the renewals are not in and the club has not got its 9000 season tickets holders and realise that it needs to look after and appease the fans it already has because the reality of this situation is once they leave it will become almost impossible to get them back and most young fans(the future of BFC) will not feel that connection to the club and we will become smaller, constantly punching above our weight until we do fall into oblivion which will happen without THE MOANING FANS WHO PAY THE WAGES.

Well spoken, steclaret. When their clubs won't let them go or they don't wanna step down to the Championship, we can't force loan players to come to BFC. Or maybe the moaners have a brilliant plan they'd like to share with us?

Summer spending spree.....will there be more players over 35 years old for the club to splash out on?? The fans have been "loyal" putting up with the "small squad system" for over 4 years now. Perhaps if Mr Coyle spent less time making up the numbers in the reserves and more time looking at the complete lack of quality, pace and numbers in his first team squad it would help. To be fair it must be difficult working with people who promise so much and deliver nothing!! Frustrated Claret

I could name a few Burnley players that went to Deadwood at the end of their careers. Not good enough for us but ok for you.

WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE CLARETS FANS!! THE ONLY "SUMMER SPENDING SPREE" MR FLOOD (PRUDENCE) WANTS TO HEAR ABOUT OR BE INVOLVED WITH IS THE ONE WHERE FANS RUSH OUT AND BUY SEASON TICKETS!! EVEN IF LAFFERTY IS SOLD THERE WILL BE NO BIG INFLUX OF YOUNG QUALITY SIGNINGS. A FEW OLD FREEBIES. DUFF AND BERISHA HAILED AS "JUST LIKE SIGNING 2 NEW PLAYERS". OWEN COYLE SITTING AND WAITING BY A PHONE THAT NEVER RINGS (WHEN HE IS NOT OUT PLAYING FOR THE RESERVES THAT IS). HAS THE PHONE BILL BEEN PAID? AFTER COYLE WAS APPOINTED FLOOD WAS QUOTED IN AN INTERVIEW "OWEN KNOWS THE SCOTTISH AND IRISH LEAGUES BETTER THAN ANYBODY WHICH MEANS WE WILL NOT HAVE TO PAY SO MUCH FOR RECRUITING PLAYERS". SUMMER SPENDING SPREE!! GET REAL!!
WHERE ARE THE LOAN SIGNINGS WHICH WERE HINTED AT BY COYLE TO REALLY GO FOR THE MUCH TALKED ABOUT 5 OR 6 WINS!!
NO MONEY, NO GENUINE AMBITION, AND MOST CERTAINLY NO "SUMMER SPENDING SPREE".

I hope Mr Flood will give Owen funds in the summer to spend. I am sure he will. Wade Elliott is great news and hopefully now Owen can strengthen his squad to add to this squad he keeps, in my opinion,

Steven Caldwell
Clarke Carlisle
Michael Duff
Graham Alexander
Jon Harley - new contract signed hopefully.

Chris McCann
James O'Connor - new contract signed hopefully.
Wade Elliott
Besart Berisha
Adam Kay
Alan Mahon
John Spicer - new contract

Kyle Lafferty
Ade Akinbiyi
Robbie Blake
Jay Rodriguez - give him another year

I would keep Jon Harley because he is an honest pro and is probably one of the best left backs in the division.

John Spicer because he has something still to offer us.

James O'Connor works 110% and gives his all. I know his passing game is weak and he is small, but he works hard. And scores the odd goals. 3 goals in recent away games (P.N.E, Plymouth, West Brom).

Let these go;

Brian Jensen
Gabor Kiraly
Joey Gudjonsson
David Unsworth
Stephen Jordan
Garreth O'Connor
Steve Jones
Stan Varga
Andrew Cole
Mark Randall - possibly get him on a season long loan for next year.

So in my opinion 10 out and maybe 10 in.

I think we will have 2-3million to spend in the summer. So Owen can weave his magic and get his side.

Up the Clarets!

We should support the team, but why should we continue to back a board that treats us like idiots, with the same old spiel, at the same times season after season. Would you give away your money to a liar. Come on! Have a reality check. Its blinkered supporters such as yourself who are quite happy to keep lining the pockets of a couple of already very wealthy men, and let them keep telling you all this bull sh!t. Surely you must be feeling slightly pi55ed off with all the bollock5 Kilby, Flood and now even Coyle feed you. If your answer is no my friend then i think you are in a very limited minority. And believe me i know a hell of a lot of supporters who go on week in week out and travel to away matches who are massively disguntled. So dont start sayin all this SH!T about not being a true supporter of Burnley FC
Are you honestly so dumb that you think that the money you pay goes in to the pockets of Kilby and Flood? If anyone needs a reality check mate, it\'s you. Until you are in a position to invest millions in to the club, why don\'t you stop wasting your time on here and get a job or an education?
Funny that! we aint seeing any benefits on the pitch, so where is our money going? As for wasting my time, getting a an education an a job....here goes. 12 GCSE all grades A through to B, not bad, i acheived them in 1997 College...2 Grade B A Levels and a Merit at BTec National Diploma Royal Engineers, Design Draughsman Currently coming towards the end of my second level on a Hons Degree, working with a 70% average... Thats a First Class Degree Mate And on top of that i am holding down a 30 hour a week job Mate.....So i would suggest you should be the one to get a reality check MATE! Everyone is entitled to their views!!!!!! And i will keep airing them until i see significant changes!
I am not a blinkered supporter.
I am very disapointed at the way things have worked out this season. I would have liked to have seen more players in January and loans since then. I do think this season has been a missed opportunity.
I don't agree with everthing that has been said or done But i do not consider Kilby, Flood or Coyle liars.I know Kilby and Flood are both claret through and through.
If it was n't for kilby & flood we would be in league one at best.
What i would say is that i think they made a mistake in raising supporter expectations. I can see the problem were some fans will not accept the board or managers word when signings fail to materialise.
If anything they are guilty of bad PR.
The main point of my thread was that i don't think deserting the club works. I went to practically every game through the eighties, when we dropped from what is now the championship to the bottom of league 2. The fans stopped going and we nearly went out of existance. I kept going, not because i am blinkered but because without my and others support the club would have folded.
I will be renewing my season ticket to help support the club, not line the boards pockets. I happen to think we will have a good season. I will swallow my disappointment and keep going because, in my book, thats what being a supporter is about.

I\'m not going anymore, stuff your ticket, i\'d rather watch TV with the wife etc etc. Lets all stop going eh, just like \'fans\' did in the eighties. Then when the club are bottom of league 2, having to win the last game to stop going out of the league, lets all go back on. Cry when we survive and tell everyone what loyal fans we are and how much the club means to us. How we never miss a game etc etc. Ok, we are disappointed at not getting in the playoff but for god\'s sake get behind the club. Not going on just makes it worse. That a very fair and respectable point steclaret.

I was not aiming my last messsage on here to you, it was to boggle , who said i need to get an education and a job. i had to correct him on that matter.

As for yourself i have a lot of respect for you because you supported them all the way through the bad times, i was myself too young to be going throughout the eighties.

I really hope it is true what you say that its just mis guided PR, but this should not happen, especially to those of us who actually go on and watch the games....i just find it so frusterating.

I really hope we will have a good one nxt season, but flood and kilby do need to put their money where their mouths are and invest substantially in the team. And believe me, i i where to win the 90 million jackpot in the euro millions, i would put my money forward, but employ somebody who knows a lot more about the football business than i do.

So i'm sorry if i offended you earlier, its just pure frustration and anger. But hey Coyle still thinks we can hit the play off this year if we win our remaining games, lete just wait til mext season.....at least its a very positive step that Wade has signed on, he just needs the finishing touch now, then he'l be fantastic
