Fan arrested en route to Paris
A 34-year-old Preston man has been arrested as part of a clampdown on football hooligans travelling to England's friendly with France in Paris tonight.
The man, who has not been named by police, was arrested by British Transport Police at St Pancras international train station in relation to previous football-related disorder. He was served a 21B notice, requesting a banning order be imposed on him, and was to appear in City of Westminster Magistrates Court this afternoon.
Supt Dave Roney, of the BTP, said more than 1,000 football fans travelling to Paris for the match were expected to travel by Eurostar.
He said: "As part of the operation officers have detected known supporters in breach of football banning orders and they have been prevented from travelling due to their past indiscretions involving football disorder."
