I DIDN'T think I'd be saying this but ..there's actually something worth watching on ITV on Saturday night.

Admittedly Primeval, which began this weekend, is complete and utter hokum - it's a cross between Stargate and Jurassic Park with a touch of Dr Who thrown in - but it's great fun.

The basic premise is that there is a hole in time which is allowing dinosaurs to end up in the 21st century mooching around Asda's car park.

Enter our handsome hero - played by Douglas Henshall, a professor who specialises in dinosaurs and whose wife disappeared eight years ago in the same forest where the hole in time appears.

This is real switch your brains off, family fun in which Henshall and his band - including former S-Clubber Hannah Spearitt - get chased by nasty monsters and coo over the cute ones.

Incidentally which is the better career move, Celebrity Big Brother or working with dinosaurs? (Answers can be sent directly to Jo O'Meara!).

The CGI dinosaurs are well done and not overly scary so you can let the kids watch in safety but if that's the case, why the late start time?

This is clearly meant for be family entertainment so why not start it at a family time?

It would also mean young viewers would not have to be subjected to watching Graham Norton introducing dancing dogs and roller skating budgies on his so-called talent' show.
