IN hiking togs and Easter bonnets, these girls were off on a camping trip to the Lake District for the bank holiday of 1962.
They decided to spend the weekend in Ambleside and are pictured here with their bulging rucksacks and big smiles before leaving Blackburn.
They are, from the left, Janet Coar, who lived in Mellor and her Blackburn friends, Freda Brown of Palatine Road, Sheila Hoyle of Stansfeld Street and Kathleen Swindlehurst, of Agnes Street.
