WRITER and naturalist Ron Freethy's next project is looming - but he needs your help.
For he is starting preparations for a new book, which he plans to title 'Memories of the Lancashire Cotton Mills'.
And he has called on readers for their recollections and stories of life in the textile industry and, particularly, any old photographs you might have.
Ron, a columnist with the Lancashire Telegraph, revealed one substantial section will look at the traditional local Wakes weeks, when whole towns used to close down as workers went off to the coast.
He urged: "Come on you cotton folk, please help me record your memories, which future generations will enjoy."
If you can help Ron in his research, send your stories and pictures - they will all be returned - to the Looking Back desk, at Lancashire Telegraph, Newspaper House, 1 High Street, Blackburn, BB1 1HT.
