SHANNON McGinty swapped pool power for pool poise after making her debut in the British Gas Synchronised Swimming Championship.
The 16-year-old, who is a member of the successful Pioneer 79 Swimming Club, competed in the solo event alongside Commonwealth silver medallist Jenna Randall, last year’s silver medallist, Sarah Spears, as well as six members of the Great Britain Junior Synchronised Swimming team competing for their clubs.
The event was held over two days with compe-titors scrutinised by judges marking technical merit and artistic impression.
The first day was a knockout with only the top 12 progress-ing through to second day.
And Shannon (above) impressed the judges enough with her routine to make the cut.
Her Spiderman theme routine on day two was equally as impressive as she finished in 11th in the club championships (she is a member of a Preston based synchronised swimming club) and was 12th in the Open Championship in her debut event.
Shannon trains approximately 16 hours a week, 12 with Pioneer 79 and a further four hours a week with the synchronised club.
