He took the title in an exciting match, beating Michael Briggs 6-2 6-3.

The Kent Winter Singles Finals were played at the new Kent County Tennis Centre at Newstead Woods School, in Orpington.

Michael's sister, Laura, who attends Wilmington Grammar School for Girls, had a convincing victory against Amanda Best in the 18 and under category, not dropping a game to win the match 6-0 6-0.

This was a remarkable victory as Laura had been on crutches just three weeks ago, having broken a toe.

Laura and Michael both train at Bexley Lawn Tennis Club and Next Generation Club in Dartford, and have the full support of their schools towards their tennis programmes.
