SUMMER FAIR: Dartford, Gravesham and Swanley MIND's annual summer fair will be on June 23. The mental health charity is appealing for donations of books, gifts and bric-a-brac to be taken the MIND office on West Hill, Dartford. The fair's location will be announced soon.

HEALTHY EATING: Crisps are being swapped for bananas by children at Maypole Primary School as part of a healthy lifestyle programme. Pupils aged four to seven at the school, in Dykewood Close, Bexley, are taking part in the Government's fruit and veg scheme.

CARE SESSIONS: The Carers and Relatives Information Service has started at Littlebrook Hospital, Bow Arrow Lane, Dartford. Sessions run from 2.15pm to 4.15pm on Wednesdays. Volunteers will answer questions on mental illness treatment and medication.

POETRY IN MOTION: North Kent poets have until June 30 to be taken by the muse and win £1,000 in a national competition. Entries should be sent to The National Poetry Anthology, United Press, Admiral 3735, London, EC1 1JB and enclose a stamp.

RECYCLING DECISION: If you are too busy during the day to recycle then Kent County Council's decision to keep recycling centres open late during the summer will please you. Recycling centres across the county will remain open until 8pm on Wednesdays.
