Group aims to drive up e-business growth

BUSINESS Link has formed a new group dedicated to helping e-businesses drive growth and increase profitability.

Consisting of nine e-traders from around Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, the group will meet monthly to share best practice and help members tackle specific business problems.

Nicholas Steven, customer relationship manager, says the group was formed to tackle the shortfall in support for companies trading online.

He said: "I wanted to address the feeling of isolationism felt by some e-traders by bringing together non-competing businesses.

"In the sessions, we address issues such as how businesses can increase traffic through their website, and how they can convert that traffic into sales. Companies can learn from the experiences of their peers and we also have a programme of guest speakers throughout the year.

"Even though it is very early days, we have already seen many benefits from the group meetings. Ideas have been generated on how businesses can attract more visitors to their sites and some of these are already being put into practice."

Nick Strong, MD of www.selectyourfranchise.com, based in Chandler's Ford, is enthusiastic about the benefits of membership.

He said: "We are a successful internet business but we are always looking for new ways to grow. The group provides an ideal platform for companies like us to learn from each other. It is very helpful to be able to talk about business issues in confidence with people who are operating in a similar environment."

The first e-traders group is now full, but Business Link are hoping to set up several new groups.
